News hit early this week of the former world number 1’s COVID-19 positive test result. Andy Murray’s hopes of going deep in the Australian open are left in murky water as the regulations surrounding the COVID-19 virus in Australia may prohibit the star’s ability to travel to Melbourne in time. Tightly scheduled flights, chartered by Tennis Australia, are the only mode of travel available to players who are travelling to Melbourne from a variety of worldwide locations. If Murray misses this window, and no alternative arrangements are put in place to cater for this disappointing turn of events, our chances of seeing Murray at the Open are slim.
Fortunately Murray has told the media that he is not suffering with any symptoms of the virus, and is physically ready for competition so one can only hope that Murray will return to action in Australia, but we willl have to wait and see whether alternative travel arrangements can be put in place in time.
